Laundry

Yes, Laundry! Endless Laundry. We all have to do it and I don't know why I feel like I need to devote a post to it but it is such a large part of my life. I have to admit that laundry has been sooo much easier since the addition of our new washer and dryer (oh, how I love them). But I have a serious problem with Laundry. Part of my problem is that I am mildly obsessed with it. It's not like I am really good at it or anything. I never iron or pre-treat, but I defiantly have a
certain way that I like my clothes to be folded.
That said I have cursed myself to doing the job myself. Whenever Ryan tries to help fold clothes I always stop him because he just does it all wrong. I can't blame him it is all me. But I have done it enough that he won't even try to help.
My other problem is not sorting the clothes, putting them into the washer, then switching them in a timely manner. No, my problem is that my clean clothes get backed up because as controlling as I am about how my clothes are folded I hate to do it. But not only do I hate to fold them I have some kind of glitch that makes me think that I have to fold all the loads at the same time. Otherwise I would be folding clothes all day long instead of in one 2 hour session. So all my clean clothes stay in baskets getting all wrinkled up for days while we pick through them looking for the things we need and all our loads are washed.
This is not a problem I have alone, I know. I have been in my friends houses during laundry sessions and I know that I am not alone.
I shouldn't be so controlling about it. I need to start teaching my boys how to wash their own clothes. Especially Hayden. I have noticed myself trying to pass my OCD laundry obsessions onto him but he is not being receptive. When I try to show him how to put his clothes away he says okay mom and then just stuffs them into his drawers. Then of course I have to go back and fix it because I can't stand to see clothes sticking out all funny and squished.

I know it is all really stupid and I know that I can't get away from it and I probably won't change my ways but I had to vent a little.
I better go...I have to finish folding...again.

Our Romantic Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day this year we took the boys to the Monster Truck Show in Salt Lake. Romantic huh! Oh Well, the kids had a blast! We were lucky enough to get a hotel and stay the night instead of having to drive all the way home late at night.

The truck show was a lot of fun, but I forgot how loud they can be! We had gotten ear plugs for the boys and I don't know if I was being stoic or what but I didn't get any for me. I guess I didn't think it would be that LOUD!! It was crazy loud!
Owen's ear plugs kept coming out so I had my hands over his ears and I almost wanted to scream it was so loud for me! I will defiantly remember next time to get ear plugs for me!

At the hotel we had a great time too. The boys love sleeping in hotels. What kids don't? I kinda like it to, I feel rich when we sleep in hotels...haha! We took them swimming, or better yet, I took them swimming, twice. Ryan said he doesn't like swimming in public pools. They can be kinda gross I guess. But we make sacrifices for our children. LOL.

All in all it was a very fun valentines. Even if it wasn't really romantic...at all.

Facebook chain letter-25 Random Things about me

I did my list on facebook and then later I saw my cousin's wife, Kierstin, put hers on her blog. I thought that was a great idea! It took long enough that it deserves 2 spots on the world wide web....right?

#1 I am a total night owl. I hate to wake up in the morning and will set my alarm 1 hour earlier so I can hit snooze repeatedly
#2 I had my first child, a son, on the same day of the year that my mom had her first child, a son, we were both 21.
#3 I hate it when people cheer, clap, boo or make any kind of excessive noise in a movie theater.
#4 I have been cutting hair for 13 years now and I have only really cut 2 people. One of those was really bad! I still feel guilty every time I think about it. Ouch!
#5 I used to have a really big birthmark on my calf. When I was born my mom said it was the size of a fingerprint but as I grew, it grew. When it started to grow black hair out of it...I had it removed. Now I just have a huge scar.
#6 I HATE to run. I am really bad at running. The longest I have ever ran was 2 miles. But I think it would be sooo cool to be in a marathon.
#7 When I was about 10, I was riding my horse at a camp site when someone shook out their tent. I feel off but my foot was caught in the stirrup and I was drug for about 100 feet. Amazingly I wasn't hurt and rode back to our base camp. I still am proud of myself for that.
#8 I have never broken a bone, sprained a muscle or been other wise seriously injured. Only one set of stitches.
#9 I Love the smell of gasoline, must be because of my parent's gas stations growing up.
#10 My dad died in a car accident when I was 17. I miss him dearly everyday, I think about him everyday, but can't imagine how different my life would be if he was still here.
#11 I used to not be able to stand my brother and thought he was the biggest annoyance in this world. Now he is one of my best friends. I am so proud of all his successes.
#12 For our honeymoon Ryan and I went to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. I hadn't made a hotel reservation because I thought it would be no problem to find a room for just one night (don't ask me why). Apparently it was a Canadian holiday and their were NO rooms lefts. We ended up in a seedy hotel and slept on top of the covers with bath towels laid on top of them. Great memory!
#13 I am terrified of snakes. ugh...just thinking about them gives me the chills. If you think of it, ask me about the story with Porter and the snake. It's a great one.
#14 Ryan and I once got lost on a horseback ride in the Superstition mountains. We almost had to spend the night. It made me realize how unprepared we were for an emergency...Since then I over prepare for hikes and outings. Ryan too.
#15 Most people know that I am a really picky eater. I almost consider it an eating disorder. I hate it.
#16 I had a dream the other night that I was President Obama's barber. I got to live in the White House and everything! It was awesome!
#17 I only have 3 front teeth on the bottom where most people have 4.
#18 My favorite movie is "O'brother where art thou?" I could watch it everyday.
#19 I love to play with Hayden's webkinz. I know...lame.
#20 My favorite food is pizza. Cheese pizza.
#21 One time I hooked my brother's head with a fishing pole.
#22 Ryan called me 4 times the day that he asked me out and left 4 messages. I was at work, but was flattered by his persistence.
#23 I have 3 beautiful, healthy (for the most part), active ,sweet, funny and smart boys that I love more than anything. But I still think about how fun a girl would be.
#24 I am grateful for wonderful family, friends, neighbors, husband, kids and everyone else who has blessed my life.
#25 Laughing is the best medicine. It always works for me.

So there it is. After I finished this list I thought of more unusual things about myself. It wasn't hard, really. LOL.
