No Training Wheels!

I am very pleased to announce that Porter is now riding his bike without training wheels. He rode his bike a ton last summer and really got the feel of it. Now here we are at the very beginning of Spring and have only been out maybe 3 times so far. Each time we just bent his training wheels up a little and that's all it took . He asked me to take them off yesterday and... SUCCESS! He did it. No problem. He even learned to start himself within minutes. The amazing thing to me is that I think I was like 8 years old before I could ride my bike. Hayden was just turning 4 when he learned, making him only 3 years old. The kids these days are just are doing things so early now. Awesome!

It's been great being outside. Still pretty cold but warming up, I can feel it. And I am lovin' it!!

He's Getting Bigger!!

We had our latest endocrinology appointment (a doctor who deals with glands) for Porter today. It was a great appointment. He has grown 3 1/2 inches and has gained 4 lbs. That is an appropriate amount of growth for a 4-5 year old. YEAH! He is still not doing any catch up growth but they think that he just has a 'constitutional delay'. Which means that he will continue to grow at an appropriate rate until he goes through puberty, which more than likely will be later than most boys. Hopefully, that is the idea... he will then be able to catch up as much as possible until then.
They want to run a few more tests just to make sure that there isn't any more hormonal issues. He has had low test results in the past. If everything looks good they are going to let him be and turn him over to his pediatrician. It will be so awesome for me to just not worry about it anymore. To know that he is okay and that he will grow up 'big and tall'. I will give an update when I get the test results back. If things continue like they are we should be in the free and clear!

My First Blog

I have just entered this world of blogging and it makes me feel like an old lady that I haven't been doing this for years. I would like to start by saying Thank you to Tamara and Rachelle for their blogs and the inspiration it gave me to start my own.

For my first item of business I would like to say that I am SO ready for Spring. I know that I am not the only one feeling this right now. I just love the feeling I get when things start to warm up. I feel like I am coming out of hibernation. When the snow melts and I see those first few buds on the trees its like a whole new beginning. I never got that feeling in Arizona. For this feeling alone I will always be grateful for Winter and for when Winter finally ends.

I have to say though that I feel like a really bad mom because I have not done one snow related activity with my kids, except maybe a few snowballs. No sledding, no skiing, no tubing, and not one snowman. I have taken them outside to play in the snow and they have had fun romping around but I have missed a year of making snow memories for my kids. I will defiantly make it a point to do better next year.
So we are all getting ready to emerge from our cocoons (except for those of you in Arizona who are about to enter their very hot ones) and enjoy this beautiful place that we live in. I can't wait to take that first big breath of Spring air and begin again.
